SLI has a team of dynamic and talented associates who provide services that are valuable to our clients and consistent with the values and philosophies of our company. Our associates have a minimum of seven years business management experience to ensure that they are always able to connect the learning solutions we develop to our client’s real world business issues.

 

Carol Fenn – Principal
Prior to co-founding SLI, Carol set in motion CTI Consultants Inc. with the purpose of enabling organizations, and the people within those organizations, to achieve their envisioned futures. As President of CTI, she has worked extensively in the areas of leadership development, organizational effectiveness and change management with many of Canada’s prominent corporations. Prior to founding CTI, Carol had an extensive career in executive Human Resource roles, including Vice President, People & Values for Maritz Canada Inc. and Vice President Training & Development for Omnibus Consulting. Earlier in her career Carol worked extensively in the Hospitality sector with Bass Hotels & Resorts and Delta Hotels.
Joanne Shields – Principal
Prior to forming SLI, Joanne Shields was a founding partner with Results By Design Consultants Inc. for fourteen years. Joanne has been involved in many notable learning and development projects with clients among Canada’s Fortune 100 Companies. Some of her project work included dedicated client assignments, most recently as the Managing Director, Learning Systems at Maritz Canada Inc. Early in Joanne’s career she worked as a Senior Consultant with Wilson Learning Corporation and Apple Canada where she designed, developed and delivered learner–centric training interventions.

Diane and Susan run the company … the facilitators, consultants and partners simply do the work! Diane, our first Office Manager, joined SLI in 2003 and she has been an integral and essential part of our success ever since. As our company grew, so did our need for additional office support and in 2013, Susan joined the team also serving as an Office Manager. Diane and Susan’s responsibilities include learning project management, materials coordination, financial accounting and conducting other key tasks that maintain the smooth operation of the business. Both love what they do and thoroughly enjoy working with SLI’s many valued clients and associates as well as the principals.

Rilla Clark (M. Sc.) – Coach
Rilla is delighted to be working in partnership with the STAR Team at Starfish Learning. She brings 25 years of training and experience in applied psychology and business to her executive coaching practice. Rilla is a highly skilled coach and process leader who has worked with a variety of organizations, moving people and teams to new levels of skill, understanding and mutual gain. In this regard, Rilla is particularly adept at developing People Q (how well we know and manage ourselves; read and understand others and our impact on them; and develop and lead people) and Learning Q (how deftly we adopt new behaviors and beliefs in response to the environment; adaptability; learning agility) skills within today’s high potential business leaders. Having worked extensively with clients in the financial services, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, consumer packaged goods, technology and insurance industries, Rilla remains an enthusiastic and energetic person who offers people and teams in transition, a change process that lasts.
  Belinda Clemmensen – Designer, Facilitator, Coach
Belinda Clemmensen (B.Sc., M.Ed., ACC) is an ICF certified coach. For the past 20 years, Belinda has been a sought after designer and facilitator of corporate learning and development initiatives across North America and beyond. Possessing a proven capability to support clients to take their business development vision and make it a reality, Belinda’s practice supports individual, team and organizational transformation. Her areas of specialization include leadership development, conflict management, negotiation, emotional intelligence, change management, organizational culture change and team development. The foundation for Belinda’s work with people matches respect, sensitivity and authenticity with a high degree of technical competence. Although working within organizations is her primary work, Belinda is also a skilled expedition guide & volunteer leader and her most impactful project was to co-found, and lead Paddle to a Cure: Journeys of Hope, a community-based sea kayaking expedition that raised almost $1 million for breast cancer research and education. Belinda lives, works and plays in Huntsville, Ontario with her husband, Shane and young son, Gabe.
Sue Deacon – Facilitator
As proprietor of Learning Mattersis, Sue is a ‘Trainers’ trainer’. Her career long focus and commitment has been to developing leading edge learning solutions that build capacity and create results. Sue has over 25 years of experience in training design, facilitation and coaching across a wide range of industries including High Tech, Financial Services, Insurance, Pharmaceutical, Automotive and Loyalty clients. Working with leaders from these sectors, she has enabled them to create realities that have been targeted and strategically aligned with both their corporate and personal goals.The breadth and depth of Sue’s training expertise is valued by clients who look to Partners in Performance for trainers who specialize in leadership development, sales and presentation effectiveness, team building, customer service skills or sharpening negotiating skills. Sue supports the process from start to finish and demonstrates that individuals have the means and the capacity to succeed when given the tools, confidence and support to do so.
  Tim Dixon – Designer, Facilitator
Tim has been a valued associate of StarFish Learning since 2006 and possesses design & facilitation specialization in the areas of: team effectiveness, leadership development, organizational effectiveness & change, strategic planning, technology-assisted learning and innovation processes. Before co-founding the training and development company InCourage in 1997, Tim served as a Senior Consultant at CIBC’s Leadership Centre and prior to that, he was Director at Brock University’s Corporate Adventure Training Institute (CATI). Tim has also served in consulting and facilitation roles within and across various community agencies as well as servicing government organizations at the federal, provincial and municipal levels. Tim is a former Board Member of the Association for Experiential Education and has made many international conference presentations, including multiple workshops at the People’s Development Summit on China’s Great Wall and at international conferences of the American Society for Training & Development (now known as the Association for Talent Development)
  Chandra Drevjany – Designer, Facilitator, Coach
Chandra has had a progressive and successful Human Resources career in the telecommunications, consulting and marketing and communications industries. Chandra is thrilled to be an Associate of SLI and brings senior level HR generalist experience combined with strong project management skills to the group. Prior to joining SLI, Chandra was a Senior Manager, Human Resources for AT&T Canada (Allstream). If asked of her key accomplishments while working with AT&T Canada, Chandra would site her involvement in the HR due diligence and integration process of several companies that were acquired by the company during her tenure. Prior to joining Allstream, Chandra worked for Reacon Management Inc., where she assisted in the planning of organizational development strategies through the use of employee opinion surveys and focus groups. At Maritz Canada Inc., Chandra played a key role in establishing the recruitment and hiring process including the implementation of a candidate database, development of a job posting policy and employee referral program. She also helped deliver training to support Maritz Canada’s performance management program.
Michele Hornick – Designer, Facilitator, Coach
Michele is proud to be a part of the SLI team.  Prior to joining StarFish, Michele held senior executive roles in the retail and consumer goods industry in Canada including:  Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Senior Vice President Store Operations at Walmart Canada, Senior Vice President Sales & Supply Chain at Canada Bread Company Ltd., and Vice President Sales & Customer Service at Maple Leaf Foods.  Michele’s career began at the Nielsen Company, the world’s leader in market research, followed by nine years of progressive sales and business development roles at The Pepsi Bottling Group and Pepsi-Cola Canada Beverages.  Michele has a deep understanding of the sales process from point of manufacture, to procurement, through the supply chain, and ultimately to in-store execution.  Throughout her career in both consumer goods and retail, Michele has been known for facilitating exceptional cross functional results and motivating teams to exceed expectations. Her current focus is on executive coaching, and sales effectiveness and leadership content design and facilitation, through which she aspires to train and motivate professionals and business leaders to enhance their personal and team performance.
Glenn JohnsonDesigner & Developer
Having been with StarFish Learning since its inception in 2003, Glenn works with SLI to design and develop custom learning and development initiatives that enable companies, and their people, to succeed! Specializing in the Sales and Marketing practice area, Glenn works extensively on client programs & special event-based projects that seek to build sales / marketing acumen and develop key selling/partnering skills for employees working within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, financial services and retail organizations. Prior to joining SLI, Glenn served as a People Manager and Process Improvement Leader for GE Capital, PPL Marketing Services and Maritz Canada Inc. In recent years, Glenn has also held term positions as Director, Learning Operations with HORN Training & Consulting and as Senior Manager, Enterprise Learning at TD Bank.
  Dorothy Kudla Designer, Facilitator
Dorothy Kudla is an insightful facilitator whose passion it is to inspire individuals to achieve personal and professional goals. Prior to joining SLI, Dorothy worked as an executive for 15 years serving most recently as Director of Sales & Marketing for Hilton International where she developed strategic plans, sales and marketing action plans and leadership development initiatives. Dorothy’s area of expertise is in supporting organizations with innovation and change strategies, planning process and the achievement of the desired outcomes through engaged, committed people. She specializes in initiatives that drive organizational results from strategy to execution.
  Sandi Verrecchia (MBA, CMC, CPCC) – Designer, Facilitator, Coach
As a Certified Leadership Coach, Sandi is thrilled to be an Associate of the SLI team where she can share her passion for individual and team development. Prior to forming her coaching practice and joining SLI, Sandi spent over 20 years in the financial services industry focusing on consulting in the areas of team development, operations and sales and marketing. Sandi is also a Team Performance Coach with the Queen’s School of Business and an Instructor with the School of Business at Mohawk College. Sandi holds an MBA from Royal Roads University and is a Certified Management Consultant through the Canadian Association of Management Consultants. She is also member of the International Coaches Federation and is serves on the board as Treasurer of the Marketing Association for Credit Unions.
Ken Victor – Designer, Facilitator
Ken is a valued associate of StarFish Learning located in the Ottawa area. Having dedicated his career to exploring the application of experiential learning, Ken focuses his talents in the areas of team effectiveness, leadership development and change and has worked extensively with clients such as Astra-Zeneca, CIBC, BMO, Nortel and the Federal Treasury Board. Earlier in his career, Ken was the founding Director of the Outward Bound Center for Change, overseeing the professional development programs of Outward Bound in Canada. As a highly skilled facilitator possessing experience within the technology, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and financial services sectors, Ken is adept at delivering experiential learning within client organizations “from the boardroom to the shop floor”.
